The Sun Came Out - Movie Screening
Posted 20/09/2010 - 09:29 by Chris
You're in for a treat with Waiheke Radio and Waiheke Community Cinema presenting two great music movies over the next month.
On the 1st of October, we present The Sun Came Out, a locally made documentary offering an intimate, behind the scenes look as Neil Finn invites world class musicians – The Smiths' Johnny Marr, KT Tunstal, Bic Runga, Don McGlashan, members of Radiohead, Wilco and others – to New Zealand to write and record an album for the charity Oxfam and put on live shows.
Then on November 12 is Music Is Choice, a documentary following the journey of now defunct Wellington three-piece Trinity Roots. The movie was filmed over the best part of six year's and includes footage of the band rehearsing, recording and performing and interviews.
Both movies are being screened to raise funds to support Waiheke Radio's shift to new premises in December. Tickets for both are $15 (movie and supper) and can be booked at the cinema on 372 4240.

It reveals how each developed his unique sound and style of playing favorite instruments, guitars both found and invented.
Friday 7 May - 8pm Waiheke Community Cinema. Tickets are $15 Book by phoning the cinema on 372 4240 - includes supper and a special live musical performance before the show.
