The Saturday Breakfast Show back on air!
Posted 16/01/2012 - 23:28 by Simon

This Saturday, the 21st January, Waiheke Radio is pleased to announce the return to the airwaves of - Simon & El on the Saturday Breakfast Show.
Yep, we're back, you couldn't keep us away! To be honest we tried but they just wouldn't let us so we'll be back on-air this coming Saturday with your usual mix of quality upbeat tunes, a review of the week in the papers, regular opportunities to take the mickey out of local personalities and a few new bits to keep us on our toes too.
We're really looking forward to being back in your house on a Saturday morning so tune in 8-10am if are having a lie-in or you're just chillin with the kids, or maybe you have a hangover or perhaps even you've scored the previous night? Whatever's going on turn on your radio to Waieke Radio we'll sort out your Saturday morning!!
Cheers

McDonalds move into Waiheke - We're not lovin' it!

Waihekeans awoke this morning to see something they never thought they'd see on their beautiful, corporate globalisation-free Island paradise. As the dawn woke up the unsuspecting Island residents and the sun rose above the ridge of Blackpool Heights, three red signs with golden arches began to glisten in the Oneroa sunlight. |

Residents will have been aware of the new development work currently underway in Oneroa but would never in a million years have imagined the full horror of what was to come. The Mcdonalds Golden Arches are moving into town.
As we speak there will, I'm sure, be a collective groan from parents across the Island and a 'yippee' from all the children themselves drooling at the thought of a local weekly 'Happy' Meal.
There will also no-doubt be a protest action plan already in place from our more vocal Island protesters and we'll soon see direct action on a scale like we've 'never seen before', demonstrations that the Surfdale Cellphone Tower Protest Group can only dream of. This will be war!!
Questions need to be asked, especially of our Community Board. Did they really give permission for this?
We at Waiheke Radio can already feel our arteries glogging up!

THE RETURN OF THE SATURDAY MORNING BREAKFAST SHOW
Posted 20/01/2010 - 11:24 by El
This Saturday 23rd sees the welcome return of Simon and El to The Saturday Morning Breakfast Show. Following a bout of feverish activity in which the boys got together to create lots of exciting new features for the show, they eventually decided that if it ain't broke - don't fix it. So expect a lot more of the same sort of music and chat that allowed them to coast through most of the last year without so much as breaking sweat. "It's a fun-filled rollercoaster of a ride" through your Saturday Mornings whilst daring to take an unashamed look at their weird lives...their wild loves...in a jazz-haunted, desire-tormented world. (It also includes the fishing report).
Waiheke Radio 1st Birthday - Best of Sat Breakfast
What it says on the lid. Funny, irreverant and a great listen, just like the Sat Breakfast show with Simon and El. Here's some highlights from their first year.
