Haiti

The Navigator feels very much for the people of Haiti, whose live are shattered by the earthquake. Will open the show with three Haitian tracks. The first by Les Loups Noir D'Haiti and last two by Boukman Eksperyans. Their song Mizere're means "Misery Follows You", while Wet Chen is subtitled "Get Angry - Break The Chains"

Throughout the show i will follow with plenty Caribbian tracks from a.o. the excellent Soundway compilation "Tumbélé! Biguine, Afro Latin Sounds from the French Caribbean 1963-1974", "Hurrican Zouk" (1987", Kassav and the excellent Carib/UK poet, artist and activist Bejamin Zephaniah with "War Crimes"

I am sorry to hear of Kate McGarrigle death. She died of clear-cell sarcoma on January 18, 2010, aged 63 at her home in Montreal. Her sister Anna wrote on their website http://www.mcgarrigles.com/:

Sadly our sweet Kate had to leave us last night. She departed in a haze of song and love surrounded by family and good friends. She is irreplaceable and we are broken-hearted. Til we meet again dear sister. ♡

Saw an excellent documentary on Brian Ferry's 2007 "Dylanesque" recordings, so a few tracks from that, although his "Hard Rain" is from 1973. On the same channel a doc on the making of Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon". It becomes impossible to get the tunes out of your head and the only way for me is to play from Easy Star All-Stars, the Dub Of The Moon. Tonight's track Money, but that is only because i like the sound of the bong in the beginning.

Also a very rude song tonight. I am excused, because it is a Sea Shanty. All aboard the Good Ship Venus.
