The New Local Board

Hi Chris,

Thanks for all your hard work on putting together election coverage that was comprehensive and fair.

I would like to call for a slot in next weeks Island Life wherein Denise and Faye appear on radio together and  address the issues between them directly. The radio host would hopefully be someone who is adept at moderating such a situation.

During the election, the top question on everyone's mind was-

Can Denise and Faye work together?

The question was rooted in the fact that whatever resentment or conflict was generated by Denise winning the councillor seat 3 years ago, nothing had been done to resolve that conflict by Faye.

I say that because Denise has made repeated overtures to Faye to ensure a smooth working relationship and has been repeatedly rebuffed. The community stands to suffer greatly in the next 3 years as Faye conducts her retribution for the perceived slight of losing the election.

We cannot let this slide as it will feester over time and will seriously handicap us, and we cannot allow elected officials to indulge in  personal grudge politics.

Thank you,

Millie Watkins

Local Board

No thanks Millie. The election is done. There is now a simple, transparent process to work through to select Chair and Deputy Chair of the Board (which is not, and should not be, a public process). The Board has to get its wheels spinning for its number one task of getting momentum with the SuperCity. The Board now needs an external, not internal, focus.
