Hoi friends

“Mama Africa”, Miriam Makeba, died last Monday after a concert in Switzerland.

The world was dealt a blow early this morning, in a small town outside Naples, Italy when Zenzile Miriam Makeba..Mama Afrika to the world, passed away…… and left this earth,
She was born on 4th March 1932.
Whilst this great lady was alive she would say:
“I will sing until the last day of my life”
Zenzile Miriam Makeba collapsed on stage, at the end of her set,
after singing Pata Pata from 1967

I will play the original Pata Pata tonight in the deepest respect for “Mama Africa”

In conjunction with that, if you enjoy country at its purest, Merle Haggard has a live version of “Mama Tried” on a new “37 Great Performances” double CD

Brand new albums this week come from Poland and across the Waitekere‘s from here.

The Mamaku Project just releasedtheir self producedMal de Terre. As a taster of global grooves I can say this is top of the line! My choice of the week and 3 tracks. Tui writes: Music is available through Itunes, Digirama and our (also mine) favourite 'www.amplifier.co.nz.' and distributed by Rhythmethod.

On equal par is the “Warsaw Village Band” from Poland. Their own website doesn’t mention their new album “Infinity” yet, but I can report that it is a cracker of an album and ranks equal with our own Mamaku Project. Hence, three tracks tonight.

At the request of Brent I play one more from Taj Mahal latest “Maestro”. It will be “Scratch My Back”. I will precede that one with his daughter Deva Mahal. Live from Wellington she gives a great introduction to a great song “Never Gonna Stop” when speaking from the heart she talks about stopping this shit on our planet.

My big question from the elections is about “Nuclear Free New Zealand”.
Will it stay or will it go?
I say: NO CHANGE TO NUCLEAR

From “Nuclear Free Nation” three tracks in a message to John Key:
Herbs, Katchafire and Verse Two feat. Ladi6

Another new release on the show tonight is Bar Mexico on Demon’s Nascente label.

Have a great weekend and be nice to each other
